Rede Cerrado in numbers

We have been working for over 30 years to defend the Cerrado and its peoples, to keep alive the heart of the waters of Brazil and Latin America.

We bring together more than 300 organizations that are coordinated and mobilized in our political field, expanding the reach and impact of our work for socio-environmental justice.

We are more than 70 organizations associated at Rede Cerrado – from indigenous peoples and quilombolas to traditional peoples and communities, family farmers, socio – environmental organizations, academic institutions, collectives, and social movements.

We operate in 12 states across the country, covering around a quarter of the national territory that makes up the Cerrado biome.

We act in the present to change the future

The Cerrado is the cradle of waters and the heart that pumps life into almost a quarter of Brazil’s territory. Protecting this biome means ensuring water, food, crops and climate balance for the entire country and the planet.

By strengthening indigenous peoples, quilombolas, traditional communities, and family farmers, we expand sustainable management practices, preserve ancestral knowledge, and build economic alternatives based on socio-biodiversity.

Our impact occurs when we transform advocacy into public policies, when we give visibility to the struggles and knowledge of the territories, and when we connect local communities to national and international decision-making spaces.

Together, we can halt deforestation, tackle climate change, and ensure that future generations inherit a living, diverse, and fair Cerrado.
